The Law Offices of Stephen J. Hoffmann, St. Louis Attorney - Traffic Ticket, Speeding Ticket License Points
What is so bad about having a few points on my license?

As points on your driving record add up, you move closer to a driver's license revocation. Higher points don't just mean greater criminal penalties. Insurance rates may increase greatly as you accumulate traffic tickets.

Speeding tickets and moving violations can put your license at risk. Points on your license may cause your insurance rates to skyrocket. Too many points on your license could lead you to lose your driving privileges. Each speeding ticket could add 2 or 3 points to your license. Even if you are from another state, points you received for traffic violations in Missouri may be added to your license in your home state. Under Missouri's point system, your license will be suspended for a year if you acquire 8 or more points in 18 months. If you get 12 points in 12 months, your driver's license will be revoked.

Some people try to remedy their situation by selecting a different insurance provider located out of state. However, insurance companies usually still do a nationwide database search to assess the risk you pose.
